About This Machine

Showdown is a Western-themed backglass design for an electro-mechanical (EM), two-player pinball machine, with artwork created by Lloyd Rognan. As far as is known, this backglass never became a production game — unless it was released for sale under a different title that has not yet been matched to this artwork.

Rognan, who also produced advertising poster art, had backglass work appear on production games in the 1970s for Chicago Coin and Williams. Because Showdown was never manufactured, no information exists about its gameplay, rules, or specific playfield features.

Showdown's Western theme places it among a number of unproduced concepts from the era that never made it past the design stage, offering collectors and historians a look at pinball artwork that was created but ultimately not paired with a released machine.
