About This Machine

Big Top is a whitewood prototype designed by John Trudeau for Premier Technology (marketed under the Gottlieb trade name), built around a Circus/Carnival theme, but it was never placed into production and the playfield no longer exists. Trudeau doesn't recall exactly why it was passed over; by his account it played pretty well, and the rollover drop targets -- themed as clowns -- were fun to knock down.

As a four-player solid-state machine, Big Top featured two flippers, one pop bumper, two slingshots, two 3-bank drop targets, four solitary drop targets, six standup targets, and a rollunder spinner -- a target-heavy layout offering plenty of scoring variety.

Because it was never produced, no finished artwork or theme presentation exists for Big Top beyond the whitewood prototype stage. It remains documented today as one of the many unproduced designs from Trudeau's career at Gottlieb/Premier Technology.
