Tyrannosaurus
About This Machine
Tyrannosaurus was a whitewood prototype designed by John Trudeau for Premier Technology (marketed under the Gottlieb trade name), built around a dinosaur theme, but it was never placed into production and the playfield no longer exists. Trudeau has recalled it as a so-so three-ball multiball game, though he was fond of its opening skill shot -- an idea he later revisited, also unsuccessfully, on the unproduced Aces - Escape From The Bermuda Triangle.
As a four-player solid-state machine, Tyrannosaurus featured two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, a 4-bank drop target, three kick-out holes, three standup targets, a rollunder spinner, a lower-right ball return gate, and an unusual skill shot in the shooter lane. A long row of inserts spelled out "Tyrannosaurus" across the playfield, and the game supported 3-ball multiball.
Because it was never produced, Tyrannosaurus remains documented only as a prototype, notable chiefly for its early three-ball multiball mode and its distinctive shooter-lane skill shot.
