Pinball Squared
About This Machine
Pinball Squared is a whitewood prototype designed by John Trudeau for Premier Technology (marketed under the Gottlieb trade name), featuring a two-level playfield, but it was never placed into production and the original playfield no longer exists. Trudeau has recalled it as "a pretty good two-level whitewood," while noting that the timing simply wasn't right for a two-level game, and that it could have been themed to almost anything.
As a four-player solid-state machine, Pinball Squared featured four flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, two 3-bank drop targets, and a kick-out hole spread across its two-level design -- a layout intended to support more complex shot combinations than a standard single-level playfield.
Because it never reached production, no theme or artwork was ever finalized for Pinball Squared, and it remains documented today primarily as one of the many prototypes Trudeau built during his prolific career at Gottlieb/Premier Technology.
