About This Machine

The 2008 Stern Pinball Batman machine, designed by George Gomez, is a licensed title based on the Batman film franchise and DC Comics characters. It features a mix of challenging mechanics and multiball modes typical of Stern's late-2000s S.A.M.-board-era output.

Notable toys include the Joker's reveal mechanism — a rotating cylinder that unveils a Gotham City scene, a Joker figure, and a close-up mural of the Joker's face — a Scarecrow crane that players can bash to launch a suspended ball on a heavy spring, and a Batmobile teeter-totter holding a Hot Wheels tumbler car beneath a clear ramp that tips as the ball races across it. The game supports 2-ball and 4-ball multiball, with a ramp that diverts the ball to either the teeter-totter or an elevated mini-playfield.

The cabinet measures 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, and 75 1/2 inches high, and weighs about 250 pounds. Artwork was created by Kevin O'Connor and Margaret Hudson, sound by Ken Hale, with voice characterizations by Fred Young. The game carried an MSRP of $5,999 when new.
