Dale Jr.
About This Machine
The Dale Jr. pinball machine, released by Stern Pinball in 2007, is a Limited Edition run of Stern's 2005 game 'NASCAR', built on a modified Whitestar platform and produced in approximately 600 units. It capitalized on driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s popularity by re-themeing the earlier NASCAR title around him specifically.
As a four-player solid-state machine, Dale Jr. carries over the auto-racing gameplay of its 2005 predecessor, giving players targets, ramps, and racing-themed modes to pursue while competing against each other. The game's sound package would have leaned on racing atmosphere -- engine sounds, crowd noise, and race commentary -- typical of Stern's NASCAR-licensed release.
The Dale Jr.'s design and artwork draw on NASCAR's iconic imagery and Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s own car livery, giving it an eye-catching cabinet aimed at both racing fans and pinball collectors. As a limited-production variant of an existing title, it's a notable example of how manufacturers repackaged licensed themes around specific star athletes.
