About This Machine

Super Zeus is a 1979 Solid State Electronic, four-player pinball machine of unknown manufacture, believed to have been built in Italy using Bally-sourced cabinet, backbox, and electronics (Bally MPU AS-2518-17) but without a sound board, relying on chimes instead. It is a close copy of Williams' 1978 'Flash,' minus that game's playfield flash lamps. Artist Michele 'Mike' Martinelli's signature, 'Mike '79,' appears on the playfield near the central figure.

Gameplay features three flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, five standup targets, four star rollovers, a 5-bank drop target, a kick-out hole, and a spinning target. A distinctive layout element has the ball shot into play crossing the playfield to reach the top before it can interact with the targets below.

As an unlicensed, unofficial copy of an established Williams title, Super Zeus is a curiosity of the late-1970s Italian pinball scene, illustrating how popular American designs were sometimes reproduced abroad with local branding and minor modifications.
