About This Machine
This "Favorite" pinball machine is an apparent copy of Buckley Manufacturing Company's 1932 game of the same name. Its manufacturer is unknown - a known example bears no markings or date, and its cabinet measures 31 inches long, 16 inches wide, with a height sloping between 6 1/2 and 9 inches.
As a Pure Mechanical (PM), single-player tabletop/counter game with a horse-racing theme, Favorite lets players shoot 7 balls for a single cent, a low price point typical of Depression-era counter games designed for quick, casual play in stores and arcades. Being from the pre-flipper era, gameplay would have relied on skillful shooting and gravity-based ball routing rather than any player-controlled paddles.
With no manufacturer markings and no additional documentation surviving, Favorite remains a minor mystery of early coin-operated amusement, valued by collectors chiefly for its connection to the better-documented Buckley original it appears to imitate.
