About This Machine

La Vie Parisienne is an obscure entry in Bally Manufacturing's catalog: a four-player solid-state machine (Model 1194) with artwork by Dave Christensen, themed around the 1860s Jacques Offenbach operetta of the same name about life in Paris. Bally's numerical list of machines shows a release-to-production date of October 16, 1979, tagged as a "4 player novelty," and a surviving backglass bears a 1980 copyright date.

Despite reaching the release-to-production stage on paper, La Vie Parisienne was never actually built - it does not appear in any Bally parts catalog game lists, and no wiring part number was ever assigned. What became of the project is unknown; it stands as one of Bally's unbuilt "ghost" titles from the turn of the 1980s.

Because no units were ever produced, nothing is known about its intended gameplay, rules, or full backglass and cabinet artwork beyond the surviving backglass image. It remains a curiosity for Bally historians as an example of a planned title that never made it off the drawing board.
