Cabin Fever
About This Machine
Cabin Fever is a 2006 solid-state pinball machine manufactured by DIY Pinball, built as a 3/4-scale game designed for kids. Only one confirmed unit exists, making it an unusual, one-off creation rather than a mass-produced title. Its Nature/Outdoors theme is reflected throughout the game's targets and toys.
Gameplay is coin-operated at three balls for a quarter, and centers on a set of LOGJAM targets and BEAR targets alongside two pop bumpers and a spinner. Knocking down the LOGJAM targets increases the bonus multiplier, while knocking down the BEAR targets opens a bear head toy on the playfield; a ball shot into the bear head is caught, 'chewed on' for a moment, awarded a bonus, and then spit back out. The score display uses eight 1-inch seven-segment LED digits to show text like 'try again,' 'credits,' 'high score,' 'play pinball,' and 'tilt,' and a new high score triggers a free replay accompanied by a knocker sound.
At 41 inches long, 19 inches wide, and roughly 30 to 54 inches high, Cabin Fever's small scale and single-unit production make it a distinctive curiosity — a custom-built, kid-sized pinball machine rather than a commercial arcade release.
