About This Machine

Al Capone is a Brazilian solid-state pinball machine by LTD do Brasil Diversões Eletrônicas Ltda of Campinas, São Paulo, active from 1977 to 1984. The game is a copy of Bally's 1982 'Speakeasy,' reworked for the Brazilian market with an American History - Cards/Gambling theme fitting its Prohibition-era namesake.

Gameplay on Al Capone follows its Bally source material closely, featuring two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots, along with a spinning target, a standup target, and a roulette wheel built into the playfield. As an add-a-ball machine, it also includes five banks of flyaway targets and left and right crossover return lanes, allowing players to aim for high-scoring shots.

No specific designer is credited for this version of the game. Nonetheless, Al Capone is an interesting example of how manufacturers outside the United States adapted established American designs, like Bally's Speakeasy, for their own regional markets during the late 20th century.
