TEX-OP
About This Machine
TEX-OP is a bowling-themed, single-player electro-mechanical add-a-ball machine built as a modified version of Gottlieb's 1973 'Ten-Up.' Nearly all of its hardware appears to be reused Gottlieb parts, though the playfield and backglass are unbranded, and the small pinball-machine graphic that normally appears in Ten-Up's bowling-alley backglass scene has been removed, making the manufacturer unknown.
Gameplay on the TEX-OP features a generous four-flipper layout along with two pop bumpers, two kick-out holes, two stand-up targets, a 10-bank of drop targets, and a star rollover, giving players a dynamic and engaging experience true to Gottlieb's original Ten-Up design. The wedge-shaped backglass depicts a bowling alley scene.
Sound on the TEX-OP is notably simple, consisting of three chimes and a knocker, and the maximum displayed score is capped at 1,999,990 points. As an unbranded derivative of a known Gottlieb title, TEX-OP remains an interesting curiosity for collectors studying how operators and distributors reworked existing games for the bowling-themed add-a-ball market.
