World Cup / World Championship
About This Machine
The World Cup/World Championship pinball machine is a rare and intriguing example of solid state electronic pinball design from Bell Games, an Italian manufacturer that operated between 1980 and 1985. As one of the few known examples of its type, this machine offers a unique glimpse into the evolution of pinball technology during the early days of electronic pinball.
One of the standout features of this game is its time-based gameplay, where players must score points within an operator-selectable time limit (ranging from 15 to 99 seconds). The game's scoring system is simple yet challenging, with stand-up targets awarding one point each and the vari-target capable of scoring up to three points. The addition of a soft rubber insert that causes the ball to bounce unpredictably around the playfield adds an element of excitement and unpredictability to gameplay.
The machine's design and theme are also noteworthy, with a compact cabinet featuring a prominent ashtray on the lockdown bar. The game's artwork is likely to be a nostalgic treat for soccer fans, while the inclusion of music from the Blues Brothers will transport players back to the era of classic pinball soundtracks. With its unique blend of electronic gameplay and sports-themed design, the World Cup/World Championship pinball machine is sure to captivate pinball enthusiasts and collectors alike.
