About This Machine

This 'KISS' listing is not a standalone pinball machine but a conversion kit -- a playfield and backglass designed to be installed inside a Bally cabinet, transforming it to resemble Bally's 1979 'KISS' pinball. Its actual manufacturer is unknown; it was previously attributed to Geiger-Automatenbau, but Mr. Geiger has since stated he was not the manufacturer.

Two different versions of the conversion playfield are known, distinguished by their rendering of the 'S' in the rune-style KISS logo: one uses the angular 'bolt-style' Nazi-associated rune shape (whose use is illegal in Germany), while the other uses a rounded 'S'. A German collector has noted that early KISS record albums sold in Germany originally used the bolt-style 'S' before switching to the rounded version, suggesting the bolt-style playfield could plausibly have been sold there, though the manufacturer of either playfield version remains unconfirmed. No evidence indicates multiple versions of the conversion backglass exist.

As an unofficial conversion tied to the band KISS's late-1970s popularity and Bally's original licensed machine, this kit remains an obscure curiosity for collectors interested in unlicensed pinball conversions.
