Circa 1933
About This Machine
The Circa 1933 pinball machine, manufactured by Fascination Int., Incorporated in February 1979, is an unusual entry from a short-lived company that operated from 1977 to 1979. It is a two-player solid state electronic (SS) cocktail table game with a historical theme, measuring 28 inches by 38 inches and standing 26 inches high - a format designed to sit comfortably in bars and lounges rather than arcades.
The machine offers a straightforward game with a focus on high scores: two flippers, three pop bumpers, four drop targets, and a pair of six-digit LED score displays for its two players. Notably, the playfield layout is the same one Fascination used for its 1977 'Roy Clark 'The' Entertainer', and the same layout also appears in Allied Leisure's 1978 'Take Five' - one known playfield even carries an Allied Leisure Industries logo on the apron.
The artwork, credited to R. Michael Torrey, supports the historical theme, and the game's flyer advertised a "Limited Edition" version with what appear to be cup holders and an ashtray on each side of the cabinet, though known cabinet photographs do not show these additions. As a cocktail-table pinball from a small, short-lived manufacturer, Circa 1933 is an interesting curiosity for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
