The Flintstones
About This Machine
The Flintstones pinball machine, released by Innovative Concepts in Entertainment, Inc. (ICE) in 1994, is a redemption game built around the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon. It is not to be confused with the unrelated Williams pinball machine of the same name and same year. The cabinet is designed to resemble a car from the show, and the machine uses a coin-operated ticket vendor typical of redemption games.
The molded plastic playfield measures roughly 3 by 5 feet and uses an oversized 2-inch foil-coated ball. Gameplay features two oversized, reversed flippers at the bottom of the playfield and a third, regular-sized Data East flipper assembly elevated in the mid-playfield, along with an oversized LED dot matrix display.
No specific designer is credited for this title, and comprehensive documentation on its development is limited. Even so, its distinctive car-shaped cabinet, elevated third flipper, and Flintstones licensing make it a memorable, if lesser-known, entry in 1990s redemption pinball.
