Seven Seas
About This Machine
Seven Seas is an electro-mechanical, single-player, flipperless pinball machine from Bally Manufacturing Corporation with a pageantry theme. It is actually Bally's 1960 'Island Queens' with the name changed, presumably as an after-factory modification.
With no flippers, play revolves around a pop bumper, a kick-out hole, and powerful slingshot kickers that propel the ball to the upper playfield, for 2 balls per 10 cents. The object is to light all eleven girls pictured on the backglass to earn replays: hitting a numbered bumper (1 through 9) lights the corresponding numbered girl, while the kick-out hole's value rotates from 1 through 11 and lights whichever number is current when the ball falls in - landing #10 or #11 lights both of those numbers. The kick-out hole then sends the ball to the outhole. Skill scores reward players for lighting more girls: 7 lit earns 2 replays, 8 lit earns 4, 9 lit earns 8, and 10 or 11 lit earns 20 replays.
As a flipperless pageantry-themed game built around lighting numbered figures on the backglass, Seven Seas showcases the skill-shot, bumper-driven design common before flippers became standard, repackaged under a new name from its 1960 original.
