Big Round-Up
About This Machine
Big Round-Up, released in April 1959 by J.H. Keeney and Company Incorporated of Chicago, is not a pinball machine but an electronic upright device - also known as a 'flasher type' slot machine. It was formally announced under a different name, 'Little Buckaroo,' only a week earlier; the backglass artwork was kept unchanged when the name was switched to Big Round-Up, and sales reportedly took off after the change.
The cabinet is a one-coin upright design that operators could order to accept nickels, dimes, or quarters, allowing flexibility to match local market preferences. The cabinet measured 56 inches high, 22 inches wide, and 17.5 inches deep, and the machine carried a list price of $695.00 F.O.B. factory when new.
Its Western theme, reflected in its cowboy-inspired backglass artwork, was a popular genre for coin-operated amusement devices of the era. As a non-pinball 'upright' or slot-style machine, Big Round-Up is of interest mainly to collectors and historians of vintage coin-operated amusement devices rather than pinball specifically.
