Pla-Mor
About This Machine
The Pla-Mor, manufactured by V. P. Distributing Company of St. Louis, Missouri in 1944, is a wartime conversion of Chicago Coin's 1940 'Sporty.' As with several other games in this series, an existing flipperless cabinet was reworked and relabeled during a period of wartime material shortages.
Gameplay on the Pla-Mor reflects its flipperless, electro-mechanical design: players relied on plunger shots and gravity to guide the ball toward scoring targets rather than active flipper control. The machine's plain cabinet and playfield, without a specific decorative theme, reflect the economic and manufacturing constraints of the time.
Detailed documentation of the Pla-Mor's specific rules and layout has not survived, but as a wartime conversion it remains a useful artifact for studying how manufacturers kept games in production when new materials were scarce.
