Play Pool
About This Machine
Play Pool, manufactured by LORI of Bologna, Italy, is an electro-mechanical, add-a-ball pinball machine that is essentially an Italian-made version of Gottlieb's 1972 'Play Pool.' Its backglass appears identical to the Gottlieb original, except that the logo in the lower left corner reads "LORI" instead of "GOTTLIEB."
The machine's billiards theme and gameplay features make it an intriguing addition to any collection. It uses two flippers, one pop bumper, two slingshots, two stand-up targets, and a kick-out hole, along with two 7-bank drop targets that add an extra layer of complexity to the game.
The design and art on Play Pool are noteworthy mainly for their close resemblance to the Gottlieb original, re-branded for the Italian market. Further research has yielded little additional information about this machine, but its rarity and status as an Italian licensed adaptation of an American design make it an interesting discovery for pinball enthusiasts.
