About This Machine

Martians! is a purported pinball machine attributed to A & A Design Group of Argentina, reportedly produced in April 2004 with a Space Aliens theme, credited to designer Diego Alvarez, artist and musician Mauro Aleto, and programmer Diego Alvarez. The manufacturer claimed 25 units were built as a coinless machine (with an optional coin door), controlled entirely by an AT computer with sound-card-driven music and voices.

However, the machine's authenticity is in serious doubt. In 2011, reports from Argentine collectors indicated it was common knowledge that Martians! was never actually manufactured, and that the surviving example may be little more than an empty cabinet fitted with a playfield overlay. The low-resolution images originally supplied by the manufacturer may even have been computer-generated rather than photographs of a real machine. Follow-up attempts to contact the manufacturer went unanswered.

Because of these unresolved doubts, IPDB has reclassified Martians! as 'Not A Pinball' rather than a confirmed production title. It stands as a cautionary tale in pinball collecting history - a claimed limited-edition release that may never have existed as an actual playable machine.
