Gran Parada
About This Machine
Gran Parada, produced by Procedimientos Electromagneticos de Tanteo y Color (Petaco, S.A.) of Madrid, Spain, is an electro-mechanical pinball machine and a copy of Gottlieb's 1968 title 'Royal Guard.' It carries a parade-themed design celebrating world cultures.
Gameplay features two flippers, four pop bumpers, two slingshots, six standup targets, and four snap targets in the center playfield that pivot back and forth in unison. When pivoted left, hitting a snap target lights a stationary target of the corresponding color; pivoted right, it lights a pop bumper of the corresponding color. Once all targets and pop bumpers are lit, side targets light for Special, and completing the top rollovers A-B-C-D-E lights the C rollover for Special. The maximum displayed score is 9,999 points, and the replay wheel tops out at 12.
The machine's wedge head is characteristic of Petaco's EM output, paired with internationally themed artwork. One surviving example is noted to have a clear-coated playfield, replacing a peeling mylar overlay of uncertain origin. Little else is documented about the machine's designer or production numbers, leaving it an intriguing find for collectors of Spanish EM pinball.
