Jackpot
About This Machine
The Jackpot pinball machine, manufactured by Bigliardini Elettronici Milano (BEM) of Milan, Italy in 1976, is an electro-mechanical (EM) game with a prospector theme set in the Canadian West. Its playfield, featuring two prospectors in the lower half, was derived from a shared design used on Williams' 1971 titles 'Klondike,' 'Jackpot,' and 'Gold Rush.'
Gameplay includes two flippers, two pop bumpers, five stand-up targets, two kick-out holes, and dual inlanes that offer players two paths into the upper playfield. A 3-reel drum unit at the top of the playfield adds an element of chance, while the kick-out holes reward well-placed shots with additional points.
The machine's wedge-shaped backbox, styled after Gottlieb's cabinet design, along with a minimalist prospecting-themed art package, gives it a distinctive retro look. Little is documented about the machine's designer or production numbers, making it an intriguing piece for collectors of Italian EM pinball.
