A-MAZE-ING Baseball
About This Machine
A-MAZE-ING Baseball, conceived by Michael Gottlieb and designed by Lyle Williman at Alvin G. and Company, is a fascinating footnote in pinball history: it was never put into production. Only a single fully functional prototype was ever built, completed just before Alvin G. and Company closed its doors in 1994.
Unlike traditional pinball, A-MAZE-ING Baseball is a flipperless, gravity-style game of skill based on a children's plastic toy, built as a baseball-themed redemption bar game rather than a standard flipper-driven machine. According to Lonnie Mihin, who worked in Alvin G.'s engineering lab on cable layouts and mechanical assembly design, the prototype represents one of the company's final projects before its closure.
Because it was never produced or released, little further documentation exists about A-MAZE-ING Baseball's specific gameplay details or artwork. It remains a rare glimpse into an unreleased concept from the twilight of Alvin G. and Company's short existence (1991-1994).
