About This Machine

The All American Football pinball machine is a rare and significant electro-mechanical (EM) game from 1935, manufactured by Peo Manufacturing Corporation of Rochester, New York. As one of the earliest known football-themed pinballs, it showcases the growing popularity of sports-based games in the early days of pinball history. Its existence highlights the evolution of pinball designs and themes during this period, as manufacturers began to cater to specific interests and hobbies.

The gameplay features of All American Football are a testament to its innovative design for the time. The machine boasts two kickers, one on each side, which return balls to either the upper or lower playfield, ensuring that every ball scores at least one point. This unique mechanism was likely intended to provide continuous action and excitement, keeping players engaged throughout the game. The use of a 10-ball per game system adds an element of strategy, as players must aim for specific targets to maximize their scores.

The All American Football's design and art reflect the sports-oriented theme, with an emphasis on simplicity and functionality. Measuring 45 inches long, 22 inches wide, and 50 inches high, this machine is a notable example of early pinball craftsmanship. Unfortunately, no designer or artist credits are available, but its retro aesthetic and nostalgic charm make it a fascinating piece for pinball enthusiasts to study and appreciate.

Kickers (2). Backbox animation (balls count touchdowns). 10 balls per game. Balls landing in upper playfield pockets score touchdowns and/or return to shoot again.
