Rodeo
About This Machine
The Rodeo pinball machine is a rare and intriguing example of solid state electronic design from Briarwood, a division of Brunswick Manufacturing Company, produced between 1976 and 1980. As a home model (non-commercial machine) rather than a commercial arcade release, it holds a distinct place in pinball history for enthusiasts studying the era's solid state technology.
Rodeo's key features include two flippers, two pop bumpers, two slingshots, and a single standup target. The cabinet was offered in a choice of yellow or woodgrain finishes according to the manufacturer's flyer. Reportedly, the same generic owner's manual was shared across several of Briarwood's solid-state home models, including Skate King, Super Star, Rodeo, Demolition Classic, Cosmic Pinball, and Circus.
No designer or artist credit has been documented for this machine, leaving it something of an enigma in pinball history. Its scarcity and relative obscurity add to its appeal for collectors and enthusiasts seeking lesser-known pieces of solid-state pinball history.
