About This Machine

The Tura, manufactured in 1938 by Tura Automatenfabrik GmbH of Leipzig, Germany, is an electro-mechanical (EM) single-player pinball machine from the pre-war German amusement industry. At least three variant pin tables are known under the Tura name, all sharing the same backbox and playfield branding: one with red and blue (or green) backbox lights and a blue playfield; one with yellow and red backbox lights, a brown playfield, and a reported 6-ball game; and one with no backbox lights, a blue playfield, and dimensions of roughly 115 x 58 x 46 cm.

Detailed information about Tura's specific gameplay mechanics, artwork, or designer has not survived, though as an EM machine of its era it would have relied on relay-based scoring logic typical of the period, without flippers.

Tura Automatenfabrik is also sometimes listed under its earlier name, C.M. Schwarz G.M.B.H., reportedly changed as the company shifted from licensing foreign designs to producing its own domestic games. The exact date of that transition (reportedly around August 1932) is unconfirmed. Given the scarcity of surviving documentation, Tura remains a rare window into early German pinball manufacturing.
