Star Battle

Star Battle, manufactured by Diverama of São Paulo, Brazil, is a rare and enigmatic addition to the world of pinball. As one of the few known games from this Brazilian manufacturer, it offers a glimpse into the country's lesser-known contribution to the evolution of pinball. The game's unknown release year and designer only add to its mystique.

Gameplay-wise, Star Battle boasts an array of challenging features, including two flippers, three pop bumpers, and two slingshots, which all contribute to an engaging outer space-themed experience. Players must navigate their ball through a series of obstacles, with the aid of four stand-up targets and two star rollovers. The presence of a spinning target adds an extra layer of strategy, while the kick-out hole provides a high-stakes opportunity for players to lose or save a ball. A unique aspect of this machine is its right-out lane ball return gate, which allows for more dynamic gameplay.

The game's design and artwork are characteristic of the solid-state era, with clean lines and vibrant colors that evoke a sense of otherworldly adventure. The placement of player score displays on the playfield apron, rather than the traditional backglass, is an interesting deviation from standard pinball design. Unfortunately, due to the scarcity of information on this game, we can only speculate about its history and production numbers. Nonetheless, Star Battle remains a fascinating addition to any serious pinball collector's or enthusiast's collection, offering a chance to experience a piece of lesser-known pinball history firsthand.
