Only Star
About This Machine
The 1971 Renato Montanari Giochi (R.M.G.) pinball machine "Only Star" is a rare example of European electro-mechanical pinball, produced as an Italian copy of Gottlieb's 1971 'Star Trek.' It illustrates how Italian manufacturers of the period reproduced popular American designs for their domestic market.
As a single-player EM game, Only Star follows the gameplay conventions established by its Gottlieb source machine, with standard electromechanical elements including flippers and mechanical scoring. Little specific documentation exists on its unique playfield layout beyond its relationship to the original.
Due to its age and relative obscurity, very little is known about Only Star's design, art, or specific features beyond its release year and manufacturer. Its presence on the market is a reminder of the practice of Italian manufacturers producing domestic versions of American pinball machines during the 1970s.
