Picture Parade
About This Machine
Picture Parade, manufactured by Nate Schneller Incorporated (Nasco) in November 1949, is a single-player electro-mechanical conversion game. Period Schneller advertising describes it as a conversion of 'Robin Hood,' most likely referring to Gottlieb's recent 1948 title 'Lady Robin Hood' rather than the much older 1938 'Robin Hood' from Daval Manufacturing, which would have been unusual operator inventory to convert a decade later.
As a conversion, Picture Parade would have reused an existing cabinet and mechanical base, refitted with new playfield artwork and scoring elements under the Nasco name, a common cost-saving practice among smaller operators and distributors in the late 1940s.
Little further documentation survives about Picture Parade's specific gameplay features or artwork, but its identity as a Nasco-branded conversion offers an interesting window into the recycling and rebranding practices common in the pinball trade of the era.
