About This Machine

The Home Run pinball machine, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in May 1954, is a six-player, electro-mechanical baseball-themed bat game. Gameplay simulates a baseball game: players bat the ball airborne into the 'bleachers' for scoring, with three outs per inning and one to three innings per game, an operator-selectable option.

The machine features three unpainted metal ramps, a striking, minimalist design touch, and a batter handle designed to accommodate both right- and left-handed players. When two or more people play, each stays at bat until making three outs, at which point the backglass lights up with 'Next Batter Up' before the next player takes over, with backglass light animation showing runners circling the bases.

The design and artwork reflect the mid-1950s enthusiasm for baseball-themed arcade games, and Home Run's multiplayer, inning-based structure makes it a notable example of Chicago Coin's electro-mechanical sports lineup.
