Apache!
About This Machine
Apache! is a solid-state pinball machine manufactured by Taito do Brasil, the Brazilian division of Japan's Taito, offering a rare glimpse into Taito's South American production. Its exact manufacture date is unconfirmed, though surviving schematics point to 1978 or 1979 rather than the 1980s. It shares its playfield layout with Gottlieb's 1975 'Fast Draw.'
The four-player machine features two flippers, three pop bumpers, four standup targets, two banks of 5-bank drop targets, two kick-out holes, and dual inlanes (but no slingshots), with a choice of 3- or 5-ball play and a maximum of 9 accumulated credits. The Native American - Warriors theme is reflected in the machine's artwork and cabinet design, though its specific designer is not documented.
As one of the few known examples of a Brazilian-made pinball machine from Taito, Apache! holds particular interest for collectors researching international pinball manufacturing of the late 1970s.
