About This Machine

The Segasa Casbah, manufactured in 1972, is one of the earliest pinball machines from this Spanish manufacturer, whose production run lasted from 1972 to 1986. Casbah illustrates the international reach of electromechanical (EM) pinball during its heyday, and it has a notable transatlantic connection: it is a single-player version of Williams' two-player 'Darling' and four-player 'Jubilee' from 1973, sharing an identical theme and playfield graphics with those games.

Casbah offers a solid feature set for its era, including two flippers, two pop bumpers, two ball kickers, and five captive balls. Landing all five captive balls on the lit side of the center loop awards a Special, giving players a clear strategic objective, while an end-of-ball bonus rewards good play on every ball. The machine can be set for 3 or 5 ball play and is convertible to award an extra ball instead of a Special. Its three chimes and knocker deliver the classic soundtrack of EM pinball.

With its Williams-derived artwork and Spanish manufacture, Casbah is an interesting example of the licensed and shared designs that circulated through the European pinball market in the early 1970s.
