Fireball Classic
About This Machine
The Fireball Classic, designed by George Christian with art by Doug Watson and software by Rehman Merchant, was manufactured by Bally Wulff in Germany in 1986 under license from Bally Midway — it's the same game as Bally Midway's 1985 U.S. release of the same name. Set against a fantasy theme, it offers players a lively mix of ramps, bumpers, and multiball action.
The machine boasts an impressive array of features, including two flippers, three pop bumpers, and three mushroom bumpers. The captive ball kick-out holes add an element of surprise to the game, while the messenger ball and spinning disc provide additional challenges for players. The rampskill shot lets players shoot the ball up a ramp for extra strategy, and a left kickback outlane along with two- or three-ball multiball round out the feature set.
As a German-licensed release of an American Bally design, the Fireball Classic occupies an interesting niche in pinball history, giving European players access to the same fantasy-themed gameplay found on the U.S. machine. It remains a collectible piece for enthusiasts interested in Bally Wulff's licensed output from the 1980s.
