Strike
About This Machine
Strike, released by Zaccaria of Bologna, Italy in 1974 with artwork by Lorenzo Rimondini, was among the earliest games from the newly founded manufacturer. It's a single-player, electro-mechanical Add-A-Ball machine built around a bowling theme.
The playfield includes two flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, nine standup targets, and an 8-bank of drop targets, giving players a substantial spread of scoring opportunities for a single-player EM title. A home version without a coin door was also sold. Zaccaria later revisited the theme with a 1978 solid-state version that shares similar backglass art but different playfield art and added center-playfield inserts.
As one of Zaccaria's first releases, Strike offers an early look at the company's design approach before it became a more prominent EM and solid-state manufacturer through the late 1970s and 1980s.
