About This Machine

MonopolyŠ, designed by Pat Lawlor with artwork by John Youssi, was released by Stern Pinball in September 2001 as a four-player solid-state machine based on the classic board game. Roughly 3,640 units were produced (a figure that includes a rare 'Platinum Edition' variant, limited to 40 units - one for each space on the Monopoly board - featuring chrome trim and signatures from Pat Lawlor, John Youssi, and Gary Stern).

The game features a rotating flipper in addition to three standard flippers, six pop bumpers, an LED marquee, and four-ball multiball. A horizontally opening bank vault door serves as the game's signature toy. The layout draws directly on the board game, with a modified Monopoly board oriented diagonally across the lower playfield, and playfield elements tied to Chance and Community Chest that reward players during gameplay.

The full-size cabinet is advertised at 55 inches long, 27 inches wide, 75.5 inches high, and 260 pounds. As one of the more elaborate board-game adaptations of its era, MonopolyŠ remains a popular and recognizable Stern release, especially among collectors chasing the scarce Platinum Edition.
