About This Machine

The Pool Player, manufactured in 2000 by Illinois Pin Ball Incorporated (IPB), occupies an unusual footnote in pinball history: it was IPB's first game scheduled for production, but no units were ever sold to the public. Its solid-state playfield was taken from Capcom's 1996 game Breakshot, reportedly with only slight modifications, and paired with a distinctive acrylic backglass.

With four-player support and a straightforward pool theme, Pool Player represents a rare glimpse at a manufacturer's game that never made it to market. Because it never reached wide release, little is documented about its gameplay beyond its Breakshot-derived layout and acrylic backglass.

For collectors and historians, Pool Player is less notable for its gameplay than for what it represents: a planned debut release from a short-lived manufacturer that ultimately never sold a single unit.
