About This Machine

Bushido, manufactured in 1993 by Industria (Electromecánica) de Recreativos S.A. of Madrid, Spain (trading as Inder, which operated from 1970 to 1993), is a solid-state electronic pinball machine that stands out for its unique blend of gameplay and cultural immersion. As one of the few machines to focus on Japanese culture and history, Bushido offers an intriguing twist on traditional pinball themes.

The game's centerpiece is a carousel of three kick-out holes. A ball sent up the left ramp arrives at an elevated right-side cannon; pressing the flipper buttons fires the cannon ball toward the rotating carousel, and with the right timing the ball locks into one of the kick-out holes. Locking all three balls in the carousel starts multiball. The sound design is also noteworthy, with Japanese kiai vocalizations accompanying hits on targets and rollover switches, and the game announcing "Welcome to Bushido" at the start of play.

Bushido's design and art reflect its theme, featuring traditional Japanese motifs and imagery throughout. It also holds a notable place in Inder's history: it was the last machine the company commercially produced before ceasing pinball manufacture, making it a fitting closing chapter for one of Spain's pinball makers.
