Fantasy
About This Machine
The Fantasy pinball machine, manufactured by Talleres del Llobregat S.A. [Automaticos] of Barcelona, Spain in 1970, is a single-player electro-mechanical (EM) machine with a fantasy theme and a wedge-shaped head backbox, representing a rare example of Spanish pinball manufacturing of the period.
Fantasy's gameplay features two flippers, five pop bumpers, five mushroom bumpers, four slingshots, and two standup targets, giving players a range of scoring opportunities. The replay window is cleverly hidden inside a woman's earring on the backglass, an unusual and whimsical design touch that stands out among machines of its era.
Little is known about the designer or specific production details behind Fantasy. Its manufacturer attribution was previously disputed — some sources listed it as a FAER conversion kit — but physical evidence such as the coin door and five score reels supports its attribution to Talleres del Llobregat. As such, Fantasy remains a fascinating and somewhat mysterious example of early 1970s Spanish pinball design.
