7-Up
About This Machine
The 7-Up, manufactured by Talleres del Llobregat S.A. [Automaticos] of Barcelona, Spain in 1970, is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine with a playing-dice theme. Notable design elements include a drop-down cabinet and an open-elbow in-lane that allows the ball to pass between the in-lane and out-lane and vice versa.
Gameplay on the 7-Up uses two flippers, five pop bumpers, five mushroom bumpers, and two slingshots, all typical mechanisms of electromechanical pinball of the era. A round replay window is located at the base of the "7" on the backglass, marking this as a replay game that awards free games rather than tickets or points alone.
Little information is available about the designer or artist behind the 7-Up. Even so, its combination of a drop-down cabinet and open-elbow in-lane design makes it a notable example of Spanish pinball manufacturing from 1970.
