About This Machine

The Sexy Girl (Delux) pinball machine, released by Arkon Automaten GmbH of Frankfurt, Germany in October 1983, is a rare and intriguing addition to any collection. Rather than an entirely new design, it is a conversion kit intended to be installed on Bally's 1980 'Silverball Mania,' consisting of a wired playfield, backglass, projector, film cartridge, and instruction manual - though notably, no matching cabinet decals were included, and surviving examples have been seen with generic cabinet artwork not used by Bally.

The kit's unique features include two flippers, three pop bumpers, and a distinctive horseshoe lane that doubles as a kicker, redirecting drained balls upward and back onto the playfield. A cleverly designed center outlane/kicker system uses wireforms to guide balls that exit via the left or right outlanes toward this feature, giving players an additional opportunity to keep their ball in play.

The game's theme is perhaps its most striking aspect: still images of pin-up girls (the backglass depicts model Ann Pennington from her March 1976 Playboy centerfold) are projected onto a screen in the playfield as an earned feature, changing periodically during gameplay. This blend of projection technology and pin-up art was an unusual approach for a conversion kit of its era. Little additional information about this machine has surfaced through research, leaving it to be appreciated for its rarity and unique design elements alone.

Technical Details

Theme:
Girls - Women
Notable Features:
Flippers (2), Pop bumpers (3), Horseshoe lane (1). Going through the horseshoe lane or top center rollover when lit changes a center outlane located below the flippers into a kicker that propels an otherwise drained ball upward through the flippers back onto the playfield. Balls that exit via the left or right outlanes can be nudged by the player onto unique wireforms that will route the ball to this center outlane/kicker. Still images of pin-up girls are projected onto the screen in the playfield as an earned feature. The picture will change during game play.
