About This Machine

The King Game, produced by Petaco S.A. of Madrid, Spain in 1974, is a Spanish copy of Gottlieb's 1973 'High Hand,' reflecting how manufacturers of the era adapted popular American designs for the Spanish market.

The playing field features a wedge-shaped head with a 4-bank of drop targets, a kick-out hole, and a single pop bumper. Two flippers and two slingshots provide players with shot-making opportunities, while a star rollover feature adds a scoring wrinkle. The machine can be set for either three or five balls per game, adding to its challenge and replay value.

The King Game's theme and artwork center on playing cards, matching its source material. While little is known about who adapted the design for Petaco, the machine stands as a solid example of the EM-era practice of localized copies of successful American games.
