About This Machine

Dual-Pool, designed by Jerry Armstrong for Alvin G. and Company, was never produced. What survives is essentially a test shell of a prototype cabinet with only a couple of bumpers installed, along with a small number of backglasses — no complete, playable game was ever built.

Rehman Merchant, who worked on the game's software, has said that programming was completed and the game was production-ready, but that Alvin G. couldn't get it to market in time to compete with other manufacturers' offerings at the time. The backglass artwork by Tim Elliott depicts Gottlieb's 1950 'Bank-A-Ball' as a nod to pinball's pool-themed lineage.

As a billiards-themed, never-released solid-state prototype, Dual-Pool remains one of the more obscure entries in Alvin G.'s brief 1991-1994 run — known today mainly through its surviving backglasses and an empty test cabinet rather than any complete playable machine.
