About This Machine

Total Recall was a prototype pinball machine developed by Data East Pinball, conceived by Joe Kaminkow with design by Tim Seckel and art by Paul Faris. Only one prototype was ever built, and the game was never placed into production, making it one of the rarer, unreleased entries in Data East's catalog during the company's 1986-1994 run.

Detailed gameplay information for Total Recall is not well-documented, and its exact features and rules remain largely unknown. Given the theme, it is plausible the game drew from the 1990 film of the same name, though this connection is not confirmed. Brief video footage showing details of the prototype can reportedly be seen in a walk-through video of the 1998 Pinball Expo.

Because it never reached production, artwork and design details beyond Paul Faris's credit as artist are scarce. As a four-player, solid-state prototype that was ultimately shelved, Total Recall remains a point of curiosity for Data East collectors and historians researching unreleased pinball prototypes.
