Cannon Fire
About This Machine
Cannon Fire is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine manufactured in August 1935 by the Shyvers Manufacturing Company of Chicago, Illinois, and designed by Kenneth C. Shyvers. It was part of Shyvers' 'Spirit of America' series of games.
Specific details of Cannon Fire's gameplay, rules, and artwork have not survived, which is typical for many machines of this era. As an electro-mechanical game from 1935, it would have relied on relays, switches, and simple scoring mechanisms rather than the flippers that would not appear in pinball until 1947.
Shyvers Manufacturing operated only briefly, from 1935 to 1937, and Cannon Fire, credited to designer Kenneth C. Shyvers, is a representative piece of that short-lived company's output during the mid-1930s.
