Treasure Island
About This Machine
Treasure Island is an electro-mechanical pinball machine manufactured in July 1935 by G. M. Laboratories, Incorporated of Chicago, Illinois. It was a single-player game, typical of the small manufacturers producing coin-operated amusements during the mid-1930s.
As with many machines from this early period, specific details of Treasure Island's rules, scoring, and playfield layout have not survived. Being an electro-mechanical design from 1935, it predates flippers (introduced in 1947) and would have relied on gravity, pins, bumpers, and simple scoring mechanisms typical of the era.
Little is known about the machine's original artwork or theme. G. M. Laboratories operated only briefly, from 1935 to 1936, and Treasure Island offers a small window into that short-lived manufacturer's output.
