About This Machine

Stars, produced by Genco Manufacturing Company in June 1935, is a single-player electro-mechanical machine from Genco's early years as a Chicago-based coin-op manufacturer (the company operated from 1931 to 1958).

Like other EM machines of its era, Stars predates the pinball flipper by more than a decade, so gameplay relied on a plunger-launched ball interacting with a fixed playfield of pins and scoring pockets rather than player-controlled flippers. Electro-mechanical components such as relays and switches would have driven scoring and any bell or light effects.

No detailed documentation of Stars' artwork or theme has survived. Its age and connection to Genco, one of the more prolific manufacturers of the era, make it a piece of interest for pinball historians studying the company's mid-1930s output.
