Duck Soup
About This Machine
Duck Soup, manufactured by Genco Manufacturing Company in June 1935, is a single-player electro-mechanical machine from Genco's early years as a Chicago-based manufacturer (the company was founded in 1931 and continued making games until 1958).
As with other pinball machines from 1935, Duck Soup predates the invention of the flipper by more than a decade, so gameplay involved a plunger-launched ball moving through a fixed playfield of pins, targets, and scoring pockets rather than player-controlled flippers.
Little specific information survives about Duck Soup's artwork, theme, or rules. Its age and rarity make it a notable if lightly documented artifact of Genco's mid-1930s product lineup, from an era when pinball was rapidly evolving from mechanical bagatelle-style games into more elaborate electro-mechanical formats.
