About This Machine

Odd or Even, manufactured by Pacific Amusement Manufacturing Company (PAMCO) in May 1935, was the third of five compact machines PAMCO advertised together as the "Quintuplets" (alongside Hit or Miss, Make or Break, Double or Nothing, and Left or Right). Like its sibling games, it used a small 14-by-25-inch cabinet designed for tight locations, with removable legs that allowed it to function as a countertop game.

As a 1935 electro-mechanical machine, Odd or Even predates the pinball flipper by more than a decade, so play would have involved a plunger-launched ball navigating fixed pins and scoring targets rather than flipper-controlled shots. Specific details of its ruleset have not survived.

No documentation of Odd or Even's artwork or theme is currently known. It shares in the general historical importance of PAMCO's Quintuplet line, an early experiment in miniature, low-cost pinball aimed at locations that could not accommodate full-size machines.
