Comet
About This Machine
Comet, released in 1986 by Universal de Desarrollos Electronicos, S.A. (Unidesa) of Barcelona, Spain, is a customized version of Williams' 1985 machine of the same name. Williams supplied Unidesa with kits consisting of complete playfields plus digital displays and other electronic components; approximately 500 kits were ordered, though it is not known how many were assembled into complete games.
As a Spanish-built edition of an existing Williams design, Comet's core gameplay and layout follow the original 1985 release rather than representing a new design from Unidesa.
Detailed records of exactly how many complete Comet units Unidesa produced, and any specific differences from the U.S. original, are limited. This makes it a machine of particular interest to collectors researching the Williams-Unidesa kit relationship of the mid-1980s.
